UPDATE: Round Rock citizens approved the ACC ballot tax in May 2008. They were promised a new campus. Would you approve it coming to Pflugerville if they built us a new campus?

Here is apparently ACC's newest lobbying arm funded with ACC taxes:

ACC seeks to pull San Marcos vote

Are you in favor or against having Austin Community College expand its boundary to include all of the City of Pflugerville?

Apparently, Austin Community College thinks so. They have formed some kind of exploratory committee to study this issue. There is still time to get involved in this process if you want to learn more. Contact Karen Duncan at kduncan@austincc.edu

The latest Pflugerville Pflag had a full page add from ACC with President Dr. Winslow ending his signature with "Closing the Gap." This moniker appears to be the new slogan for raising additional funding by adding new tax base since they have reached peak funding in tuition rates. Are you ready to pay an additional 10 cent tax / 1000 on your homestead?

Here is a couple of articles I found from there last election http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2005-04-22/pols_feature5.html

On November 3, 2005 the Mayor held a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the issue and the Pflag provided coverage in their November 24, 2005 Issue.  It seemed that the majority of the residents present were not ready to absorb another tax increase. Dr. Kinslow, ACC President was present and noted that the soonest any election could be held would be November 2006.

Please note that after the ACC last election the Legislature tightened the reins on Austin Community College and now any elections to expand the boundaries will be voted on by just the impacted parties and not the entire district. See H.B 2221.

I would appreciate hearing from you on this issue. I have children soon to be college age and could benefit from such a change. However, the timing is such that it would place too much pressure on an overly taxed body of Citizens.
